MEET SHARI BRICKIN, LMFT

Let’s stop the should and shouldn'ts and get curious.

I’m an on-line psychotherapist for Los Angeles, across California and Colorado. I specializes in therapy for trauma survivors, therapists, and psychedelic integration.

I don’t believe in thinking you should feel this way or you shouldn't let that affect you.

When we work together, we will focus on the “why”. We will work to put things in context so they make sense.  With newfound insight, you will have the flexibility to make choices versus responding reflexively or out of a sense of obligation.

HOW I WORK

You deserve to work with someone who sees you as uniquely whole and distinctly you.

In sessions with me, you will never be expected to conform to any preconceived agenda or to meet any needs on my part. I strongly believe my role is to figure out how I can best serve you. The responsibility is on me to be skillful and help you succeed in getting what you want for yourself.

My training, personal experience, and years of working with clients have reinforced my belief that we all have within us what we need to heal. Yet, that innate healing wisdom has to be accessed uniquely for each of us and this is why for some people, talk therapy alone is not enough.

Productive therapy is hard. Together, we’ll create a kind, honest space to help us through it.

I believe that kindness matters. Not the type of kindness that means telling you what you want to hear, even when it does not serve you. Rather, the type of kindness that is committed to being honest and empathic. Kindness may mean sitting with you in silence or helping you give voice to things that have never been said before. Kindness may be giving you the encouragement you need to push farther or knowing when it’s time to consolidate and celebrate some wins.

Together, we will get curious so you can write your own life story.

With curiosity and compassion, we will enhance your ability to notice, tolerate, and resource your emotions, body sensations, and thoughts as they arise.  This will allow you to stay present with what is happening in the moment and manage it. Instead of trying to push things down, or having to clean up the mess that comes with having a blow-up or meltdown. Instead, you’ll have the tools you need to deal with the situation and move on. This will feel so much better.

With curiosity and compassion, you can honor the feelings you are having without sabotaging your healing process. With the understanding that…

  • You don’t need to explore every detail of your big T and little t traumas

  • You don’t need to assess blame in order to heal

  • You do get to decide whether forgiveness is the right choice for you

With curiosity and compassion, you will find ways to offer yourself grace and compassion. You will also come to know what it means to feel safe in your own body.

With curiosity and compassion, you will find what brings you joy and what living a balanced, values-based life looks like for you.

APPROACHES

We have many ways to work together.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy/ Somatic Therapy

A gentle, body-centered therapy that addresses unresolved trauma that is stuck in the nervous system. Somatic therapy helps release frozen emotions, resolve past traumas, and teaches us how our body can support emotional regulation.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

An approach focused on understanding the various parts of our experience (e.g. inner critic, people pleaser) to achieve greater awareness, compassion, and integration of conflicting parts. IFS leads to an expansive sense of self, acceptance, and wholeness.

Expanded and Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness Meditation, and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy facilitate a deeper, transformative exploration of your unique experience and universal truths. These methods promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.
