For millennia, indigenous cultures globally have used psychedelics in rituals and healing practices. Inspired by the potential of integrating ancient wisdom and modern science, western interest has led to research focused on the mental health benefits of psychedelics. We now know that psychedelics induce deeper states of consciousness, which allows for the accelerated healing of trauma and other treatment resistant conditions. Research is showing that psychedelics promote neuroplasticity, increase and alter brain connectivity, and soften the default mode network (the brain’s network that determines how you reflexively think and feel about yourself). These changes reduce the fear response, enhance emotional processing, and enable new perspectives.
Psychedelics facilitate breakthroughs faster than other modes of therapy.
I will be there to prepare you, support your psychedelic experience, and provide integration afterward. I don’t want you to just have an experience, I want us to work together to maximize the ability of your experience to help address underlying issues and lead to lasting change.
Guided support helps pave the way for enduring transformation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Every psychedelic experience is unique.
You may experience a vivid, dreamlike journey with visual effects, distorted time, deep emotion, profound insights and maybe even a mystical experience. The boundaries between you and others may dissolve leaving you with a feeling of awe and interconnectedness.
You will be encouraged to welcome all experiences and become a neutral observer to what you are experiencing. Psychedelics help you lower your defenses and be more emotionally open. This will help your mind work through the things that have been holding you back.
My role is to make sure you get the most out of your experience. Before the medicine sessions, I will make sure you're a good candidate for psychedelics, help you know what to expect, and help set your intention. During the sessions, I will take care of your safety and comfort and help provide support so you can be open to what arises.. After the medicine sessions, we will reflect on what you experienced and make sense of your new “knowing.” Together we will develop a plan of practices and actions to bring your new ways of thinking into your life.
Ketamine
Ketamine has been used to successfully treat depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety (general & social anxiety, OCD), PTSD, and substance abuse.
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has been used safely for decades in medical settings. Ketamine medicine sessions can take many forms. In the safety of a clinical setting under medical supervision, you can receive an infusion (IV) or injection. Or in the comfort of your own home or my office you can receive the medication through a nasal spray or a lozenge under your tongue. Treatment consists of a series of preparation, medicine (lasting 3 hours), and integration sessions.
Psilocybin
Psilocybin has been used to successfully treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, existential distress from life-threatening diagnoses, end-of-life anxiety, and substance abuse.
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain species of mushrooms commonly known as “magic mushrooms.” In the safety of my office (in Colorado Springs only), you will eat or drink the medicine. Treatment consists of preparation and integration sessions and medicine sessions that are 6-8 eight hours in duration.
